DOROTHY JEFFRIES

Ballet | Adult Ballet | Pilates | Contemporary

Junior | Teen | Adult

Dorothy fell in love with movement when she began ballet at age 8. She grew up studying ballet at various studios in Northern California, including The Conservatory of Dance and Pamelot, and has attended dance intensives with companies such as The Sacramento Ballet and Ballet Magnificat. While majoring in Music Theory and Composition at the Sacramento State School of Music, Dorothy also had the opportunity to study ballet with Nolan T’Sani, who danced with the New York City Ballet under the directorship of the late George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins.

Dorothy has been teaching ballet for all levels and age groups for 12 years, finding joy in the art form and satisfaction in helping her students reach their goals. In 2014, she co-founded EnVision Ballet Company alongside Cheyenne Green. Dorothy is also a comprehensively trained Pilates Instructor and uses Pilates and other related modalities to inform her dance instruction, believing that a successful dancer is one who understands their body and how it moves and works.

Her passion is to help her students find their own freedom through dancing and to give them tools for fostering self-compassion, self-empowerment, and joy.
